biographie

Né en 1958 à New York, de père danois et de mère américaine, Viggo Mortensen passe son enfance à Manhattan avant de suivre sa famille en Argentine, au Vénézuela et au Danemark. Retour ensuite dans la Grande Pomme, où il apprend l'art dramatique au Theater Workshop de Warren Robertson. Sa passion du théâtre le pousse à créer la pièce "Bent", qui remporte un vif succès à Los Angeles et lui vaut un prix de la critique.

Il se fait remarquer au cinéma en 1985 dans "Witness", l'excellent film policier de Peter Weir, mais se retrouve ensuite cantonné dans des productions de seconde zone, dont "Prison" et "Massacre à la tronçonneuse III". Il lui faut attendre 1991 pour que Sean Penn réalisateur révèle son très grand talent dans "The Indian Runner". L'acteur y incarne un ex-taulard dont le frère tente de canaliser l'extrême violence : une composition à la Marlon Brando qui aurait dû le propulser parmi les plus grands. Mais si les tournages s'enchaînent à bon rythme, Viggo Mortensen ne retrouve pas de rôles aussi marquants. Abonné aux seconds couteaux, notamment dans "L'impasse", "Darkly Noon", "USS Alabama", "Albino alligator" ou encore "Portrait de femme", le comédien se retrouve aussi embarqué dans le catastrophique "A armes égales", en instructeur sauvage de Demi Moore. Ce qui explique peut-être la multiplicité de ses activités parallèles, de la littérature poétique ("Ten Last Night") à la sortie de deux CD de jazz alternatif.

Savais-tu que son père est un membre d'Aerosmith et que sa mère posait nue pour Playboy ? Ca ne l'a apparemment pas 'traumatisé' outre mesure, puisqu'elle a décidé de s'orienter elle aussi vers le showbiz.

Ell a tout d'abord commencé par être mannequin, normal vu son 1m80 tout de même, ses jambes interminables, ses lèvres charnues comme les agences les aiment et ses yeux en amande dans lesquels on pourrait se noyer... au bout d'un moment, ça finit par la saouler et elle décide de s'orienter vers le cinéma. Sa première apparition à l'écran se fera dans un clip d'Aerosmith... pour papa of course ;)

Le rôle qu'elle tiendra dans Beauté Volée de Bernardo Bertolucci (1996) subjuguera non seulement la presse française lors du Festival de Cannes, mais lui collera longtemps à la peau. Dans ce film, elle joue le rôle d'une jeune fille qui va allumer Jeremy Irons. Et ce rôle qui est l'un de ses tout premiers va en faire une icone sexuelle et elle aura beaucoup de mal à s'en détacher. Elle enchainera par la suite plusieurs rôles où elle jouera la pin-up ou les seconds rôles (U-Turn, One Night a Mc Cool's, Armageddon).

Toujours est-il qu'elle a joué aux côtés des plus grands (Tom Hanks, Glenn Close, Michael Douglas, Jennifer Lopez, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Claire Danes) et que la Trilogie du Seigneur des Anneaux lui permet d'évoluer de manière un peu différente de ces rôles habituels.

Né le 25 Février 1971 à Santa Monica, Californie (Etats-Unis)

Sean Astin, fils de John Astin (célèbre pour avoir interprété Gomez dans la série La Famille Adams) et de Clara Astin, elle aussi actrice, a commencé par faire des études d'arts et de graphismes avant de se lancer à son tour dans une carrière de comédien.

Après quelques rôles dans des séries, il joue dans son premier long-métrage : Les Goonies. En 1989, il joue sous la direction de Danny DeVito dans La Guerre des Rose auprès de Michael Douglas. Il est le jeune Mat dans Memphis Belle de Michael Caton-Jones en 1990 et partage, en 1992, l'affiche de Where the day takes you avec un autre débutant, Will Smith.

Parallèlement, Astin continue sa carrière à la télévision et agrandit son champ d'action en réalisant et produisant des épisodes de séries télévisées. En 1998, il est au générique du génial Bulworth de Warren Beatty. Il enchaine l'année suivante avec Deterrence au bras de Clotilde. En 1999, il s'exile en Nouvelle-Zélande pour 16 mois pour apparaître dans Le Seigneur des anneaux et ses deux suites, Le Seigneur des anneaux : les deux tours et . Il interprete Sam Gamegie, le plus fidèle amide Frodon (Elijah Wood) et Le Seigneur des anneaux : le retour du roi.
